I was just looking at the website to see if there were any NEW masks for my CPAP machine. I saw your website listed as a support group and because I am Irish, I was checking it out. I feel so much better sense I have been using my machine. I have been on it four years, now. I have a remstar plus with a nasal aire ll mask. I was wondering if anyone also uses this combination. I also have the heated humidifier. My e-mail, kilrush_@hotmail.com Thank You for letting me sign your guest book Mary

I live in Western Australia and of Irish stock. I was recently diagnosed with OSA and was very gratefully surprised, enlightened and proud to find your excellent website sitting in the number one position on the net. You folks are doing a tremendous job. All the information well set out in lay-mans terms. I do not know how to thank you enough. Those affected with the disorder in Ireland are so lucky to have you. I wish you continued success and shall return to your website on a regular basis. T. Smith, Perth, WA.

Thanks for the site...I am reading the site at 5.30 in the morning because can't sleep due to taking the CPAP machine to the USA and forgetting to switch the voltage-result blown fuse and a delay in getting over the jetlag....take note! Good thing was that this mishap has forced me to seek out support here in Ireland, since I got the CPAP machine on the NHS when I lived in the UK. Incidentally getting this condition diagnosed and a treatment prescribed absolutely transformed the quality of my life-a fact I really appreciate now that I do not have the machine temporarily. Wow- Great site, informative & easy to navigate. Question.. has any one bought a machine abroad (less expensive) and worked it in Ireland? If so are there any pitfalls? Lara B.

The site is fantastic, really informative and easy to read. My partner suffers from sleep apnoea and has been waiting for a really long time for an appointment for a sleep study clinic. His symptoms seem to be getting worse and it's really getting him down. We're both like zombies!! It's great to see the "success stories" - a light at the end of the tunnel!! Does anyone have any tips on how to speed up the process of getting to a sleep study clinic?! Gemma

Hello and Greetings from Scotland. I'm a fellow sufferer and I just want to let you know that the most information I have received from any source concerning my disorder was from your website. Your Frequently Asked Questions Page is only brilliant and it is so well laid out. One could almost become a sleep specialist after reading it. I'm very grateful and I shall return to your site on a regular basis as it is absolutely crammed with very relevant information. Sleep Apnoea in Scotland is obviously a bit like in Ireland where the ignorance of awareness by General Practitioners is very much a problem. Thank you again. M. McKenzie Glasgow.

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea in August 2004. I spent 2 weeks in hospital doing sleep studies and also had another few problems. I have been on the cpap machine for the last 3 months and i don't think its working for me. Every night i get 3 hrs sleep and then i wake and cant use the cpap machine anymore, as it seems too much air is coming through. My fiancé also told me that my snoring has not improved and our relationship is suffering over this. I would be grateful if anyone has any solution for this. My email add is; michael_mcgovern@dell.com

Hello. I got my cpap & mask on 31/12/04 from Suzanne in Medicare. I found her to be most helpful & informative. I have been able to sleep a lot better since then (so has my wife) IT was great to see this site and find other people who suffer from the same thing, instead of having to explain every time you say sleep apnoea. Keep up the good work. Mark AKA The swords cabbie.

Hi, I have found your site as I was trawling the net looking for details of the drug refund scheme and how it works for the rental of the CPAP machine.  I could not find anything on this on your site and maybe this would be a good thing to include. My husband has been diagnosed with sleep apnea and he has been paying for the rental for over a year now and we have just been told he may be entitled to a refund.  I have suggested that he ring the Health Centre for more information.

Your comments above are noted.  The short answer is that you should be entitled to a refund.  Contact your Health Service Executive (HSE) immediately.  ( http://www.hse.ie/en/HealthServiceInfo/  )  Some HSE Areas are refusing payments.  This is currently a big issue for ISAT and it's members.  If you wish to consider joining ISAT, Click Here.  You may search the ISAT website here.  The next ISAT annual conference is scheduled to take place on Sat 21 May 2005 in Croke Park.  Further Local Information Meetings are being arranged.  Stay in touch with this website for information.  Regards.  Webmaster ISAT. Any meetings in March - will there be a new list of meetings for the next few months?

Further meetings are presently being arranged.   At this point in time it appears unlikely that there will be any during the month of March 2005.  Immediately a schedule of meetings becomes available they will be posted on the website.  Suggest you sign up to the change detection on the "Awareness Meetings" page or send in your email address via the feedback form and we shall include you on our email circulation list and notify you accordingly.  Regards.  Webmaster ISAT.
